Christmas Gift Guide: "I'm Like You, You're Like Me" - Children's Book from Free Spirit ( R+G) 11/30 ( US / CAN)

“It’s fun to find ways I’m like you and you’re like me. It’s fun to find ways we’re different.”

Free Spirit Publishing has some wonderful books for children that helps them prepare for many important changes that they will observe as they grow. Many of their books, touch the mind of the child deep within by engaging them in thoughts through stories.

In this colorful, inviting early childhood book, kids from preschool to lower elementary learn about diversity in terms they can understand: hair that’s straight or curly, families with many people or few, bodies that are big or small. With its wide-ranging examples and fun, highly detailed art, I’m Like You, You’re Like Me helps kids appreciate the ways they are alike and affirm their individual differences—all while building self-confidence.

"I'm Like You, You're Like Me" teaches children about acceptance in the diversity that they will see in their life as they grow and explore. It speaks in simple words and the tone of the language is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

This has become one of our favorite books to read and it has even taken its place in our bathroom magazine rack ( only favorite books can get that far in our house!). It is quite a sight to watch my son on the potty with this book and absolutely enjoying every little picture in it! It is FILLED with pictures of everything a little boy or girl would like to see and talk about.

Illustrations are vibrant and the colors bring life to reading time. Each page has 4-5 lines and a lot to look, observe and talk about. Every time we open the book, there is a new topic to talk about! I find this book to be very stimulating for a preschooler's mind. It encourages children to ask questions and know more. Just the picture of children of all skin colors playing together in a park with bright smiles, conveys such a positive message to a little mind.

You can buy it for $14.99 and give the gift of literacy to a little friend!

Thanks to Free Spirit, one lucky reader will have the chance to win this book!
