Orangutan Diaries from PBS - Recommended for all ages.

We are always excited to watch animal documentaries. There is so much to learn about them. I did not know much about Orangutans except that they looked and acted like monkeys. This DVD was a great source of information and entertainment.

Can you believe my 4 yr old watched it with such interest? Orangutans are so much like humans in the way they interact and behave.The documentary was shot in a Orangutan sanctuary which is understaffed and the small group of staff with a great leader are trying to care, protect and save the species from abuse and extinction. 

There is a school for baby Orangutans who are orphans, where they are taught everything that they would otherwise learn from their mother. Abused Orangutans are rescued and brought to the school where they are taught and helped to integrate back into their natural habitat and community.

It was amazing to know how much care and love they are showered with by the staff. More and more forest areas are being converted into plantations which leaves the Orangutan with less and less food options. Worse is that they loose their home - the wild. The understanding that comes from watching this documentary will encourage someone to empathize with these animals and you might also want to go and volunteer at the animal sanctuary.

Dr.Seuss' stories always stand out and this is one definitely shines bright. The story line keeps the children locked-in from the beginning to the end. The importance of  being with family for Christmas  is reinstated all through the title. We thought that was a great value and tradition for children to learn. The Cat in the Hat, Sally and Nick help a lost reindeer find his parents, only to find that he was a really special reindeer with special tasks on hand!  Totally adorable and will make a great stocking stuffer!

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax transports viewers into a fantastical landscape imagined by Dr. Seuss and vividly brought to life by Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team at Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me). Directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me) from a screenplay adapted by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul (Despicable Me, HOP, Horton Hears a Who) from the 1971 children’s classic, the film is an imaginative journey that begins in the town of Thneedville, where a boy searches for the one thing he knows will win the heart of his dream girl. But in order find it, he must discover the story of theLorax, the often grumpy but loveable protector  of Truffula Valley, in an exciting adventure filled with comedy and heart that USA Today’s Claudia Puig calls, “The right blend of funny, silly, and sweet.”

In addition to the rhyming words , colors are something I have always found to attract young readers to Dr.Seuss' books. In the movie, they did a wonderful job of keeping the colors live and kicking!  The Truffula trees fill the valley until the Onceler decides to industrialize the valley. I think this story has great importance for children of this generation. It is so easy for children to understand the consequence when stories like this are produced. My little boy clearly knows why it is bad to cut trees and why it is important to promote growth of trees.

This was one of my favorite stories to watch, when I was little. With every VHS tape episode I watched, I loved each pony more and more! I still have fond memories of the pony kingdom.

I was excited when Shout! Factory released MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC: ROYAL PONY WEDDING on DVD. I wanted to catch up and have a glimpse of it again.

The DVD is packed with sweet stories that children will enjoy watching. Great musical parts add some more awesomeness to the already cute story. As an adult, I enjoyed watching the title with my son and we had some interesting conversations about friendship, love and wedding. My Little Pony appeals to all age groups and is a great family show.

 Now I have been asked to buy a few ponies to add to our toy collection !

The Gruffalo's Child was an enjoyable movie to watch and my son adores it. We were glad to have the book that came with the DVD. One of our best reads and we never get bored of it!

He replies " No, like a ZOO!"

I burst into peels of laughter as we continued to watch more of Caillou and we shared some great conversations along the way!

Sid in all his curiosity, wonders how it will be like to sleep out when there is no bedroom outside!  His dad shows him what camping is all about. They explore some animals in the backyard and Gerald learns that there is nothing to be afraid of, when it gets dark in the evening.

Every situation in this episode connects with the child and they will love it because they understand the entertainment.That's what NCircle always brings us - entertainment that educates!

Jake and the Never Land Pirates DVD Combo ( +Giveaway ) 6/17 ( US / CAN)

My preschooler absolutely enjoyed watching this many times and was full of laughter and giggles! 

He loved the thrill that the episodes gave him as he watched the gang of little pirates move from one adventure to another. Peter Pan and his friends have special powers that helps them win every situation. The trouble makers - Captain Hook and Mr.Smee are always looking to get them down. But the pirate crew doesn't give up and nothing can come between them and their adventures!

The songs were fun to sing along and we even watched and learned them in french. I found that the length of the episodes were just perfect for preschoolers. Packed with fun, interesting music, colorful and imaginative backdrops definitely added punch to the story.

Loved the digital copy that came along with the DVD. It is on our i-pad and mac. Especially since my little boy seems to love this DVD, it is worth having it for on-the go.

Learning to forgive is very important. A Paws & Tales Review.

Forgiveness. It is a hard word for us as adults. We know it is good to forgive. It is not an easy thing to do. But oh! the joy of forgiving and being forgiven is unexplainable. 

 I read this somewhere: "Holding a grudge against someone is letting someone live rent-free in your head". It is clear as daylight to me, why I should forgive.

I have been drawn to Chuck Swindoll''s DVDs , ever since we watched our very first Paws & Tales DVD. It is one of the best tools to teach good values and it definitely helps build Godly character in them.

Episode #1: "The Hullabaloo at Hunker Hill"

Hugh brags that his soapbox derby car is the fastest and dares Staci to drive it and see. Never one to back away from a challenge, Staci takes the car out for a spin... a spin that turns into a disaster at the bottom of Hunker Hill! Was it sabotage or an honest mistake? Now The Club must decide whether to get their revenge, or to forgive. (Ephesians 4:32)

Episode #2: "The Great Go-Kart Race"

The big go-cart race is coming up. Everyone's got their own ideas about the best way to grab the big prize. But when they can't agree to work together, The Club discovers just how hard it is to be on the winning team and the importance of working together. (Philippians 2:3-4)

This DVD features two full-length episodes, music videos, activities for kids, and parent helps.

What made this DVD more interesting was that it was centered around go-cart racing. The theme is very clear and easy to understand for children and they will remember it. There are 2 catchy songs about forgiveness. CJ and Staci are always up to something and their club is buzzing with plans and ideas. Gooz is one sassy and funny character. Always willing to give her opinion! 

I have been using the phrase " I forgive you" with my son for quite sometime and this DVD nailed it. Now he gets the idea behind the extent to which someone can be forgiving.

We watched it many times and never got bored of it.You should try at least one of the DVDs from Paws & Tales!

Review: PBS Kids' WILD KRATTS: PREDATOR POWER

• Raptor Roundup- Martin and Chris challenge themselves to ID as many hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and vultures as they can.  But they soon realize that an evil villain has been capturing them all!  They’ll have to use everything they know about classification and birds of prey to round up the raptors and return them to where they belong – living free and in the wild!

 The episodes in this DVD drive home a positive message - care and protect wildlife. The animation and real life scenes blend together perfectly to create a lively, natural learning experience for children. Martin and Chris take several adventure trips and learn along the way. Children will keenly observe how they interact with the animals and what they are talking about. That's how children learn the positive message behind the story.

A variety of animals ranging from wolves, crawling snakes, flying birds, fishes are featured in these episodes. It makes an interesting mix for children as they tend to get bored easily with one. My 3 yr old liked to watch it with me and I also enjoyed and brushed up my science facts! I personally thought that it was time well spent watching this as children really need to know / learn how to protect wildlife else they may never get to see some species.

What a perfect time to watch this, than Spring! Adorable Caillou gets busy after winter. He has so much to look forward to in Spring. Learning always follows Caillou's adventures. That's why kids never get bored of watching this curious little toddler in action. The part about flu really hit home with my son. Not that he liked to watch Caillou sick! But it was something to see how sickness affects a little boy like him and EVEN Caillou stays in bed when he is sick! Little teaching moments fill the episodes and that is why mommy likes it too.

We enjoyed the coloring pages on days when we did not watch Caillou. My son can never get enough of Caillou, in one form or the other!

Tintin was one of my favorite comics as far as I can remember. Seeing it come alive on screen is the best thing!

 From paper to big screen, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN is a spectacular journey filled with thrilling adventures shared by Tintin, Snowy and Haddock. They are an awesome trio who in their quest to find the lost ship eventually discover more than just a ship. Taking leads from clues, the treasure hunt takes them on high tides and leaves them in the wide blue ocean. Will they survive the wild waters of the ocean? Will they overcome the bearded villain? What is the secret inside the mansion? All the answers are brought to life on big screen with outstanding animation. We are all in appreciation and applause for the excellent animation that this movie has!

We also received the compass, magnifying glass, a fantastic globe and a little golden colored sac with gold coin chocolates!  My son found them to be of great value to his addition of treasures. What more do you need to go on a treasure hunt! We were also an adorable little Snowy to join in the adventure. My son thinks that Snowy will make a great detective!

My husband had his eyes glued to the screen for the entire movie. It is definitely a highly entertaining motion picture. We loved the set-up, backdrops and though it is not exactly comical, it is very aptly produced so that the story looks good on screen. We hope to see more adventures of Tintin!
