OxiClean arrived just on time when we had 2 loads of laundry to do. Our washer is not the best as the landlord wouldn't do anything to change it. So lately I have been thinking about something that will boost my laundry detergent to perform better and make up for our under performing washer.

Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover is in powder form and comes in a easy-to-open tub, with a scooper inside.

There are several ways to effectively use Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover.  The most common way for me was to use it in laundry as a booster. I tried it in 2 different ways:

- I filled the washer with water and added Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover AND detergent. Washed it normally. Results were better than if I had used detergent ONLY. Clothes were cleaner especially socks came out really clean! But some stains were still present.

- The next time I used it, I dissolved in water as per instructions and let some clothes with really stubborn dirt, soak in it for 2 hrs. Then I followed the process I tried for the first load. Yes, you add Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover AND detergent again. Wash it in the washer normally. This time the stains were totally gone. It is best to presoak the clothes if you see visible stains.

Sometimes I do not have time to soak and wait. So I soak them around midnight just before going to bed and load them in the washer as first task in the morning. It doesn't make me feel like I have to wait around.

You can also pretreat clothes with stains. Just dissolve the powder in water and apply on stain, rub, wait for 10 mins and wash as normal.

Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover can be used on carpet, upholstery and hard surfaces. There are some exceptions to this so make sure you read instructions carefully! If you have light colored carpets and some very curious, creative children at home, you should consider having this on hand. It will do some amazing tricks on stains. 

Bathroom floor is another area where I see myself using this once a month. I made a solution as per instructions and I made it a bit milder so as to not having it to be rinsed out excessively. I just spread the solution on the tiled floor and used a mop to scrub it. Let it stand for 10-15 mins. Then I used a mop again to just rinse and wipe out the solution. It takes a good 30 mins to clean a little bathroom like ours, with the Oxiclean Versatile Stain Remover. I wish that it did not foam as much, so that it can be cleaned easily from hard floors.

Review: PBS Kids' WILD KRATTS: PREDATOR POWER

Children will keenly observe how they interact with the animals and what they are talking about. That's how children learn the positive message behind the story.

A variety of animals ranging from wolves, crawling snakes, flying birds, fishes are featured in these episodes. It makes an interesting mix for children as they tend to get bored easily with one. My 3 yr old liked to watch it with me and I also enjoyed and brushed up my science facts! I personally thought that it was time well spent watching this as children really need to know / learn how to protect wildlife else they may never get to see some species.

We enjoyed the coloring pages on days when we did not watch Caillou. My son can never get enough of Caillou, in one form or the other!

It gives the reader an opportunity to know the importance of having the right people in their life to cheer, support and guide you in the pathway to success. As the story unwinds more, the reader will get to see how a smile can make all the difference in the world. Children can also learn how to make and keep friends by simple and thoughtful gestures.

The star of the story is Poppy, a short and chubby pig who follows her dream till the end. The story also has other animal characters from different parts of the world and that definitely adds interesting elements to each turn.

Kristi Yamaguchi was a skating star herself and was inspired to write this book as she was influenced by kids and always dreamed of writing a book.

We are enjoying this book and this is definitely a keeper for many more years to come. Children can always use a helping of encouragement from this sweet story.

Beginning in March, grocery stores from Save-on-Foods to Loblaw’s will see an intriguing addition as Seventh Generation , the country’s leading non-toxic household product provider, has recently launched the first recyclable and compostable laundry container.

The new detergent packaging is made of an outer shell of 70 percent recycled cardboard fibers and 30 percent old newspaper fibers. By using 66 percent less plastic than typical 100 ounce Seventh Generation has been able to conserve mass amounts of plastic and emissions. If every household in Canada used the new 1.47 litre cardboard detergent carton instead of a 1.47 litre plastic bottle, in ONE YEAR we would avoid 24,000 tonnes of GHG , which is the equivalent of removing 7,000 cars from the road for one year.

A mom''s take on 2012 Spring Collection from Geox

Kelloggs - An easy and healthy way to start a day!

 I love Cereal not only for health benefits but for the ease with which I can make ( or pour?!) it. From my very early years, Kelloggs has provided families with tasty and healthy choice for breakfast. 

I take pride in being a part of the Kelloggers Network and will be sharing my thoughts with you from time to time on different products from Kelloggs.

 I received a box which contained the following products from Kelloggs - Cinnamon Pops, Brown Rice Krispies, Mini Wheats, All Bran Cereal Bars, Rice Krispies Bars in Strawberry and Cocoa.We also received 2 bowls with the roosters!

The Brown Rice Krispies is wonderful to have among all the sweetened cereal. It neutralizes your taste buds midweek. I also liked the fact that they are made with brown rice. I thought that it would be easy to identify this box at a store if Kelloggs would change the colour of the box into a light brown? I have to closely look for " brown" in the box or I will be bringing home a different cereal.

I loved the Cinnamon Pops as I am fond of cinnamon flavor. My son didn't seem to like it all that much. Maybe the cinnamon was a bit strong for him. I didn''t find it to be too sweet, just right.

Mini Wheats Centries are little bundles with fruit flavored filling inside. Personally, I prefer the plain ones over the centries. My son seemed to love them! He calls them "pillow" cereal as they resemble mini pillows. 

My favorite was the All-Bran Cereal bars in orange-cranberry flavor. They are crispy, crunchy, mildly sweet with just a tinge of orange-cranberry flavor. They give me so much energy and I always carry them in my bag to work. Truly, this was the winner of all!

The Rice Krispies in strawberry and cocoa flavor, was all gone even before I got around to asking my son if he liked them and wanted some more. Doesn''t that say it all? Here''s more from my son - " Rice Krispies are the best!".

We will continue buying Kelloggs as it makes my breakfast easy and healthy! 

My son loved the cereal bowl and asked why the rooster was not on any other cereal boxes?! Good question. 

My request to Kelloggs

It would also be nice if Kelloggs  mentioned on the cereal box where our food comes from. 

" Imported for ..." is all that is mentioned. I hope it is not from somewhere I do not want it to come from like most things are coming from ! Instead of leaving it to our imagination, it would be nice if it read something like " Product of ......" or " Manufactured in ......". 

Kelloggs, is that something worth considering?

They are an awesome trio who in their quest to find the lost ship eventually discover more than just a ship. What is the secret inside the mansion? All the answers are brought to life on big screen with outstanding animation. We are all in appreciation and applause for the excellent animation that this movie has!

We also received the compass, magnifying glass, a fantastic globe and a little golden colored sac with gold coin chocolates!  My son found them to be of great value to his addition of treasures. What more do you need to go on a treasure hunt! We were also an adorable little Snowy to join in the adventure. My son thinks that Snowy will make a great detective!

My husband had his eyes glued to the screen for the entire movie. It is definitely a highly entertaining motion picture. We loved the set-up, backdrops and though it is not exactly comical, it is very aptly produced so that the story looks good on screen. We hope to see more adventures of Tintin!

Me? I have not yet watched it. That means my little boy hasn't dragged me onto the couch to watch it with him or just that he hasn't watched it either. But that's about to change!

Centuries - Epoque Espresso Gift Set 4 pieces from KAHLA ( + Giveaway!) 3/31 ( CAN only)

 I had featured the Touch! line from Kahla last Christmas and it is holding up to it's word on quality. 

KAHLA has many beautiful collections that have their own names. I got to review the Epoque Espresso Set from the Centuries collection.

Four design lines are part of Centuries: Thuringia, Mirasol, Feston and Époque.

Époque:Historical handles meet porcelain of the present day. Rich dynamic ornamentation marries reduced design. From the KAHLA design books we chose a handle each from the Classicism, Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau era. With playfully ironic ease, these handles add a little lustre of bygone times to 21st century cups and jugs.

As much as I love colorful packing paper, I am not particularly fond of the task itself. This white espresso set comes neatly and colorfully packed in this box. No cutting and sticking work for me. Zilch. Just tie a ribbon if you want to gift it.

What I loved the most about this set was the unique design of the saucer. It definitely stands out. There is a little spot to place the cup and that extra space on the side can be for a sweet cookie to go with your beverage! That is indeed a SWEET idea!  This set has awesome functionality and the design is really wonderful and well thought of. Kudos to designer Barbara!

The cups have very comfortable handles and sometimes my little son likes to drink his milk in this cup, all feeling like a grown up. I would highly recommend this set for its class and quality as a gift or just yourself.
